Description: Incredibly soft, gentle and pleasantly warm angora yarn with a pronounced fluffy effect. After the very first wash, the strand blooms beautifully, becoming even fuller and more airy, which makes the fabric look truly cloud-like. Angora 70 is perfect for knitting warm yet lightweight garments: hats, mittens, snoods, jumpers, cardigans, wraps and shawls. Thanks to the high content of angora rabbit down, the yarn feels very pleasant next to the skin, suitable for children and for people with sensitive skin — it doesn’t itch, doesn’t cause discomfort and feels like a soft hug. The nylon in the blend serves as a strong core onto which the fibre is spun, so the yarn holds its shape well, is more resistant to wear and does not require any additional reinforcing thread. Items made from this angora are both lightweight, warm and wonderfully comfortable to wear.
How to properly wet-heat treat angora:
To help an angora garment bloom, become soft, silky and truly cozy, it needs a gentle wet-heat treatment.
Prepare the hot solution.
In very hot water at about 60–80°C, dissolve household (liquid is fine) or lanolin soap. You should get a mild soapy solution.
Soak the garment.
Carefully place your knitted piece into this solution and leave it until the water has completely cooled down. This washes off the factory paraffin finish and allows the angora fibres to “open up”.
Move on to washing.
When the water cools to around 30°C, gently squeeze the garment (without wringing) and take it out. Wash it in any mild detergent or shampoo.
Important: the water temperature during washing and rinsing must be the same to avoid felting.
Rinsing.
First rinse the garment in water with a small amount of vinegar — this helps remove soap residue and set the colour. Then rinse again in water with a conditioner for wool or delicate fabrics.
Drying.
Gently lay the piece flat on a dry towel, shape it as desired and leave it to dry naturally. Do not hang it, so the fabric does not stretch or deform.
Final finishing.
Once the garment is completely dry, you can lightly brush it with a nylon brush and gently blow it with a hairdryer on a cool or slightly warm setting. The halo will lift, and the angora will become especially airy and fluffy.
With this kind of care, your angora piece will show all its beauty and remain a favourite item in your wardrobe for a long time.
