Founded in 2008 on over 30 years of yarn-making expertise, Filitaly-Lab stands at the forefront of premium yarn production for industrial knitting, handcrafts, and weaving. Inspired by founder Franco Tuci’s passion for rare fibers, the mill specializes in classic and fancy yarns rich in selected alpaca blended with merino, silk, and technical fibers.
Founding History
Born in the heart of Tuscany’s Prato textile district, Filitaly-Lab emerged from workshops that, since the 1970s, merged artisanal heritage with scientific innovation. In 2008, this collective experience was formalized into a modern mill equipped with cutting-edge spinning and dyeing technology. Early on, Filitaly-Lab pioneered “blown yarn” production—ultra-light, airy, and soft—while its daring color palettes and inventive yarn structures set it apart globally.
Production Process & Range
The Prato facility oversees every step: from sourcing alpaca fiber in Peru and Mongolia to precision dyeing and cone winding. Filitaly-Lab’s catalog features worsted and woolen spun yarns, bouclé, brushed, and blown yarn types—over 200 SKUs, led by best-sellers like Baby Alpaca & Merino blends.
